Let us begin! Why am I writing this blog

Why am I writing this

Everything is, of course, "my opinion"

"The Church" is a great place to start; but the church stopped growing and searching. By "The Church", I mean the entire Christian family. All denominations. I took time to use what I have learned from the church over the last 75 years and combined with reading of Christians going beyond 'The Church' teaching. I urge you to read the authors I have offered in the "Recommended Reading" post.

The Church is stuck in traditionalism.  All denominations.

I also looked at some of the basic teachings of the church. I could no longer, in good faith, say 'the creed'. I do not believe much of what is considered by the church as mandatory. However, I have never felt closer to "The Son of Man" who we call Jesus. I enjoy reading the gospels over and over and referring when needed to the (very) Old Testament. The New Testament is extremely different from the OT. The OT was old when Jesus walked on Earth. Jesus' mission was to change it all.  He said things like: "You are wrong" to the leaders of the church of his time. Of course, he never intended to destroy the temple building. He wanted them to stop the way they were teaching. He was trying to teach everyone "truth" (as Pilate called it). Jesus was primarily a teacher. It seems pretty clear he did not think the church at that time had much of an understanding of "truth". Today, our Christian church is without much understanding and the church does not seem interested in seeking "truth".

Here is a study I find interesting: People argue about taking the Holy Sacraments. Does it turn into the body and blood of Jesus? Look at Ezekiel and John.

Ezekiel 3:1-4  "...son of man...eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel."

John 1 "In the beginning was the Word..."

John 1:14 "And the Word became flesh and lived among us..."

John 6:63 "It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless...the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life."

My thoughts on what Jesus was saying is that you have to consume the words he is speaking. Make the words part of your body. The bread and the wine are symbolic of consuming the words Jesus was and is teaching. He is the word. The flesh is useless.
